Ministerial Advice

Kudos to Federal Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh.  Finally he has stated what Canadians everywhere have been saying.  Private Health Care is not more efficient or cheaper.

Despite the pro-public talk from the federal minister, privatization marches onward, especially here in Nova Scotia.  Premier John Hamm has allowed private clinics to open, and more plan on doing so this summer and into next year…

It is a horrible time for democracy in Nova Scotia!  The People are opposed to private, for-profit Health Care (69% of Atlantic Canadians want their provinces to do everything in their power to protect Public Health Care, according to the Ipsos-Reid poll of June 14-16, 2005.)  Yet Mr. Hamm has the nerve to say it is time to examine private Health Care.  Well Premier Hamm, there is information you are forgetting.  Your government has not only examined    for-profit Health Care, it has been allowing it ever since the private MRI clinic opened!

Mr. Hamm, maybe it is time to take a hint from the federal Health Minister.  After all, whose side are you on?  The People’s, or that of your corporate/doctor friends?ealH
