Just the Facts, Ma'am

On June 17, 1998 Canadians from coast to coast joined together to ask Prime Minister Jean Chretien to set up a National Health Care Summit within 6 months that would be:

• a Major National event
• with a broad representation of Canadians
• as well as Federal and Provincial representatives, to commit themselves to preserving and improving our endangered Public Health Care and a single-tier health system.

To help save and improve MEDICARE, we want to see Federal and Provincial Governments agree to:

• Enforce the 5 Principles of the Canada Health Act
• Conduct a Public Investigation of the Health Protection Branch
• Establish a $5 BILLION Health Care Fund in the next Federal Budget
• Expand MEDICARE to include a national home and community care, a national pharmacare program, a national public health information system
• Declare a moratorium on all health care partnerships with for-profit organizations
