Angus MacIsaac

Minister of Health

Government of Nova Scotia

Halifax, NS.

Dear Hon. Minister MacIsaac:

On August 21, 2003, we sent a letter to you under the title of the previous Health Minister Purvis.  It appears that email/letter was possibly not received by you.  I have attached the letter for your information.

On behalf of the Nova Scotia Citizens' Health Care Network, we urgently request a meeting with you to discuss the state of health care in this province, especially in light of the recent federal funds slated for this province.

We represent diversified groups and unions from across this province and we are willing to work with the government and the DHAs to ensure health care for all Nova Scotians.  We are faced with long waiting lists for diagnostic testing and surgeries (which should not be at the level they presently are), far too many shortages of beds and health care staff, reductions in home care, long term care, pharmacare and more and this is only to name a few.

It is very important that our Network representatives meet with you in the very near future.  We appreciated your support for the National Health Council and we do look forward to working with you on behalf of Nova Scotians everywhere.

Please have your office contact me at 455-9164, fax 455-0400 to schedule a time.

Sincerely yours,

Debbie L. Kelly, Chairperson

Nova Scotia Citizens' Health Care Network

Minister of Health

Dear Hon. Minister:

On behalf of the Nova Scotia Citizens' Health Care Network, I am writing to request a meeting with you regarding health care issues.

I was happy to meet you at the swearing in of the Cabinet and we look forward to working with you to meet the health needs of Nova Scotians, especially in rural areas.

We will send you the agenda once we have a meeting date.  Our Network will be meeting again the second week in September and we will finalize the agenda at that time.

Again, it was nice to meet you.  We believe you possibly your input will be a different approach and support to the citizens of this province.  Beds, wait list and long term care issues are at the top of our agenda but we will finalize this in September.

Thank you.  Please forward the date and time a meeting can be set up, perferably in September.

I can be reached at the following numbers:  455-9164, or fax 455-0400.

Sincerely yours,

Debbie L. Kelly, Chairperson

Nova Scotia Citizens' Health Care Network
